What the heck is Bally Sports?

Bally Sports is a television company made up of a collection of Regional Sports Networks (aka 'RSNs') that provide live sports broadcasts of local teams as well as a ton of other sports content through cable, satellite or streaming TV providers. Our RSNs are home to nearly half of all MLB, NHL, and NBA teams based in the US, meaning we actually produce thousands of local telecasts every year, which basically means if you want to watch local sports, you should probably start right here.

And just to be clear, Bally Sports is definitely not a gym and we do not produce pinball machines.

Bally Sports+ is a new-ish streaming subscription service offered directly from Bally Sports. Enjoy live regional NHL, NBA, MLB, WNBA games, original programming, college and high school sports, highlights, stats, pre- and post game shows and more all in one streaming app. Subscriptions to Bally Sports+ are available as a monthly, seasonal or annual plan. You can also stream on Bally Sports if you have a cable, satellite or streaming TV provider. Just log in using your provider credentials.

What does 'streaming' mean when it comes to my local teams?

A monthly, seasonal, or annual subscription to Bally Sports+ allows you to stream your team's local RSN broadcasts with or without a pay TV provider. If Bally Sports is already in your TV lineup, nothing changes; just log-in using your cable, satellite or streaming TV provider credentials.

As we like to say, we have pretty much all the sports. **Note: Currently, only select regions offer their live MLB games on the Bally Sports+ app, including Bally Sports Detroit, Bally Sports Florida, Bally Sports Kansas City, Bally Sports Wisconsin and Bally Sports Sun. Every MLB team carried by Bally Sports is available through a pay TV provider that carries Bally Sports (or “us” or “our RSNs”).

What are local rights?

Stream your hometown teams from your home, or out and about in your local city, eating some local food, hanging out with other locals. Locally. This means that you can continue watching your home teams via the Bally Sports app or on BallySports.com for up to 30 days when you travel outside or your home Zip Code. The period begins the first time you watch content outside of your home territory, which means 50 miles or more from your home Zip Code. This will apply to any device you use to stream content outside your home territory. When the 30 days are over, you'll no longer be able to stream programming from the Bally Sports app outside of your home Zip Code. Turn around and head home, the app will reset and streaming can resume. If you move to a new Zip Code, contact customer support to see what content you'll have access to in your new digs.

Can I watch while traveling or if I have a home in another Zip Code?

When you travel outside of your home Zip Code (more than 50 miles), you have 30 days to enjoy streaming Bally Sports programming regardless of where you are in the United States. However, once those 30 days are over, you must return to your home Zip Code. The app will reset and you can resume streaming. If you have a home in another Zip Code, the same rules apply. Why don't I see Bally Sports+ in the app store?

Simple answer: It isn't there! If you have a Bally Sports+ subscription, just download the Bally Sports app from the app store. Bally Sports+ is a direct-to-consumer streaming service available within the Bally Sports app and on Ballysports.com/packages.

How much is Bally Sports+?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your region, but in most cases you will get access to multiple teams for $19.99 a month or up to $189.99 for a full year. Seasonal plans are also available. That's basically less than $1 a game, even cheaper than a hot dog. Here's that pesky disclaimer though … pricing and options may vary by region.

I live in a market with two Bally Sports regions. Will I have to pay double?

Can I purchase another Bally Sports regional sports network on Bally Sports+ even if I don't live in the market?

Accepted Answer

No. Out-of-market teams and games are still subject to league territory restrictions. Think of Bally Sports+ as the local way for local fans to stream their local teams. Locally.

They say home is where the heart is, but for our purposes your home Zip Code is tied to your billing address. Go to ballysports.com/settings/account
Under 'Account Details', scroll to 'Home Zip Code'
Enter the correct Zip Code and click 'Update'

Mobile Application:

Open the Bally Sports app on your Android or iOS device
Go to bottom menu and click on 'MORE'
Go to 'Account Details' and find Home Zip Code
Enter the correct Zip Code and click 'Update'

Connected TV Device:

Why can't I find my baseball team on Bally Sports+?

Right now, we have direct-to-consumer streaming rights for the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays on Bally Sports+. We're in discussions with MLB and our MLB team partners to hopefully expand our roster soon. But if you have a pay TV provider that carries Bally Sports, you can access all MLB games!

How can I change my subscription?

Go to your account settings and click 'Subscription'. From there you can choose your plan: monthly, annual, or Season pass. You can also pause your account for up to six months. When the requested pause period is over, we'll automatically reactivate your subscription.

What is the difference between a “basic” and “bundle” package in select markets?

A basic package gets you access to one Regional Sports Network. A bundle package allows fans in markets with multiple RSNs to bundle them at a discounted rate. It's like the sampler platter of regional sports watching. Mmm … sampler platter.

What's up with local blackouts?

Blackouts are every sports fan's least favorite word. And while we can't get rid of them forever, we can definitely explain them here. Blackouts are implemented to protect the primary rights holder, as defined by the professional and college sports leagues or teams in a given market. If your particular RSN is not the primary rights holder, your game will be subject to blackout.

How do I know if I'm subject to blackout games?

If you are receiving blackout messaging, check your local listings to find the television network carrying the event. We need to verify your location to make sure we're following blackout rules. You must enable location access on your device to access content through the app.

Why aren't you on Hulu + Live TV or YouTube TV?

Long story short: Our agreements with these distributors expired a few years back. We continue to have dialogue with each of them and remain hopeful we can bring our content back to their subscribers in the near future.

Certain markets are blessed with access to multiple Regional Sports Networks (RSNs). If you're one of the lucky fans who lives in one of these markets, you can either choose a basic package for access to one RSN, or bundle them at a discounted rate. It's your call.
